But will it rise from the ashes?
On my way home from work yesterday I noticed a large sign in the window of Phoenix Games that said "S T O R E   C L O S I N G". I went to the entrance door and they had a sheet of paper posted there saying that they would be closing the store at the end of August, but would continue to sell through their online store. From glancing in the store it looks like they have a lot of their stock at 15% off right now, and I'd expect the discounts to increase as it gets closer to September. I've been shopping there (and at Little Tin Soldier) for a long time and I'm going to miss them.

That sucks. I loved having Phoenix Games in Uptown / Lynlake because I could reach it by public transportation quick and easy. Now, what with not being able to drive and all, if I want to go to a real brick & mortar store I'm going to have to get a ride and make it an "occasion" now.

Needless to say, Richard is in mourning.

I am saddened greatly by this. I consider Phoenix to be the child of The Little Tin Soldier, my first game store. And Neil is a good friend. I'll have to stop in and chat with him while I'm unemployed.

I'm willing to bet that Dreamhaven will start carrying games when Phoenix is gone. The Dinkytown store did, and I think the Lake St store didn't because of Phoenix.
