Hmm...
So I'm sitting here wondering how I wouldn't fit under any meaningful definition of 'gamer'.
Or conversely how anyone could consider me "a passenger who pays his/her money and simply
wants to be left alone with other gamers" at science fiction conventions.

Current Mood: annoyedannoyed

It goes back to the "Everybody into the water" routine we all suffered through as kids. At least I think it does. Now that we're all grown up, we get to inflict it on each other.

I'm guessing this is related to some nonsense on natter that I haven't seen yet...(I'm about a month behind, at the moment).

You've never struck me as "a passenger who pays his/her money and simply wants to be left alone with other gamers" at science fiction conventions. Probably because you always seem to spend more than a fair share of time/energy pitching in and helping make things run.

Gamers at Cons

Kevin, I think you are far more offended by my view of gamers then is merited.
I also stand by my statement as it does apply to most gamers.
And, once gain, I have no problem with that.

If you'll notice, the mood that I used in my original post about this was 'annoyed' not 'offended'. I don't think that I was much more than very mildly offended at the time, and since you've apologized I'm not feeling offended at all. If you don't think I have any right to be offended by your comments at all then I guess that from your perspective you'd be right that I am more offended than is merited. The point is that your statement was not that 'Most gamers...' but was a blanket statement that 'The gamer...'. If you had qualified your statement with 'most' or 'the most noticeable' I would have accepted it. But your statement implied that you believed that all gamers fit the stereotypical image that you were describing.
